About Us
Who are insurance premium auditors?
Insurance premium auditors are individuals with technical skills who assure statistics are reported for proper rate structure implementation and processing. Insurance premium auditors also provide quality control between companies and customers within the insurance industry.
NRIAA Mission Statement
The Northeast Regional Insurance Auditors Association (NRIAA) is committed to the growth, development, professionalism and education of the insurance premium auditor and the insurance industry.
Purpose of the NRIAA
The purpose of this organization is to support, assist and encourage member associations to:
1. Promote and maintain professional standards of performance and abide by ethical standards of conduct promulgated by the Northeast Regional Insurance Auditors Association
2. Create, conduct and encourage use of educational programs
3. Contribute professional insurance auditing knowledge and experience to the insurance industry
The NRIAA has ten member chapters located in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland. The Chapters present education programs on a regular meeting basis which varies from chapter to chapter. In addition, chapters present regional A-Day programs open to all interested insurance persons, develop educational materials to assist agents and underwriters and conduct an annual three day seminar.
The NRIAA encourages members to participate in the American Insurance Institute programs leading to Associate in Premium Audit and CPCU designations. Each year the NRIAA selects an Auditor of the Year who best exemplifies the goals of the Association.
The NRIAA is a not for profit association. It does not define, support, formulate or recommend particular strategies or actions. Participants do not disclose non-public details, discuss marketing or competitive strategies, or indicate future plans. Attendees at functions discuss only past publicly available history relating to the subject of rates and underwriting standards.

President’s Award
Presented annually by the Regional President to the individual who he/she feels was most responsible for the success of the Regional Seminar.
Fred Conklin Service Award
Presented annually by the Governing Board to an individual who has given exemplary service to the NRIAA either at the chapter or regional level. Selection is made from nominations presented to the Governing Board prior to the annual seminar.
NRIAA Auditor of the Year
The NRIAA Auditor of the Year has been awarded each year since 1983. Each member Chapter nominates a candidate for the award. Candidates are judged on the basis of contributions to the local chapter, such as holding office or presenting educational programs, and contributions to the Regional. A third component is education. Points are awarded for completing APA 91 and 92. The honoree's name and chapter are etched on a silver bowl, which is passed on to each recipient to display for a year. The award is important to the professionalism of our trade. Those who spend extra time trying to improve the standards of the profession are not always recognized and this is a way to honor those who go the extra mile.
